High-voltage ring main units (HV RMUs) adopt a ring network power supply mode, where the power supply network is connected in a ring shape to enable users to obtain power from two directions, thereby improving power supply reliability.
Generally, high-voltage ring main units are classified according to the following methods:
● Classified by gas tank structure: Common-tank high-voltage ring main units, unit-type high-voltage ring main units;
● Classified by overall structure: American-style high-voltage ring main units, European-style high-voltage ring main units;
● Classified by main insulation material: Air-insulated type, SF₆ gas-insulated type, solid-insulated type.
High-voltage ring main units are often used in industrial and mining enterprises and residential communities. In AC 10kV power distribution systems such as ports and high-rise buildings, due to the small load capacity, their high-voltage circuits are usually controlled by load switches or vacuum contactors and equipped with high-voltage fuses for protection.
